Jimmy Spencer has played professionally (focusing on saxophone and percussion) for over 25 years, and has worked as a public school band director in Louisiana and Texas school districts, teaching on both the middle school and high school level. He also served as the Fine Arts Dept. Chair for seven years at Lanier High School, and plays drums with local bands and theater productions.
With Jimmy’s level of experience, he could easily take on positions bigger than private instructor, but there’s nothing like the ability to work one-on-one with students to really help them unlock their individual music potential! Jimmy’s patience and love of music gives him the perfect tools for that, which is why many of Jimmy’s students over the years have gone on to perform in local bands in and outside of Austin, or even chosen to be music educators themselves.
We’re thrilled to have him joining Sense & Color as of January 2019, teaching drums, saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Welcome, Jimmy!
