Amy Boyd has sung her entire life, from middle school musicals to Texas All-State Choir in high school. After graduation, she moved to Austin to study Vocal Performance at the University of TX and sang for seven years with the UT Chamber Singers, under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson, who continues to be her most prominent influence as a performer and teacher. After graduating from UT, she performed with the Grammy-nominated Conspirare Choir in select performances, but work schedules made rehearsals and performances tough to maintain. For six years, Amy worked in the video game industry as the Director of Online Services for Origin Systems (an Electronic Arts studio in Austin, TX), which was an industry she loved, but didn’t leave much room for music.
By her mid-thirties, she was back into music, and now teaches and performs full-time. Amy has sung for weddings, sporting events, currently sings lead in three projects: Four Star Daydream, a pop-grass wedding band, New Car Caviar: A Jamgrass Tribute to Pink Floyd, and Live Karaoke Charlotte, a live karaoke band that performs for public and private events in the Carolinas. As a musical theater buff and frequent stage performer, Amy enjoys developing and improving students’ singing technique, confidence, and tone, while working on the music they already enjoy.
Amy and her husband Michael founded Sense & Color in Cedar Park, TX in 2008 before expanding the school to Charlotte, NC in 2014.
